Fighting breast cancer can be an emotional battle as much as a
physical one. At the Pink Lotus Breast Center, we are committed
to reducing our patients' stress, anxiety and fear as much as we
can. Support systems come in many forms at PLBC because we
consider emotional wellness an integral component of our
integrative approach to breast care. Breast cancer
patients, and occasionally significant others, meet as a group
to benefit from the power of expertly-guided group therapy,
while at the same time, a strong backbone is provided to
patients through our Funk Buddies support group.
Finally, one-on-one professional help is provided by our
licensed psychologists who have mentally guided countless women
through breast cancer before.
Every woman is unique and responds to the diagnosis and
treatment of breast cancer differently. Whether a patient is in
need of psychological assistance or not can depend on many
factors, including her stage of cancer, her overall mental
state, her family situation, her level of support, or even her
financial condition. Often, the severity of the surgical
procedure will also play a role, especially after a mastectomy.
A trusted relationship with an experienced psychologist helps
our patients tackle emotional barriers to achieve health and
recovery as soon as possible. Even if in doubt at first, most of
our patients gain a significant increase in mental strength
after having had just a few sessions with one of our
psychologists. We encourage all of our surgical patients to
consider this treatment as part of their overall healing
process. Speak to your surgeon before or after your procedure,
or contact us today to schedule an
appointment.
